In recent years, it has attracted serious attention for ecological restoration of waste lands mainly fly ash dumps, due to its propagation properties which makes it a dominant plant in the habitat. Pandey et al. (2015) conducted a grass vegetation study on a naturally colonized fly ash dump in Uttar Pradesh, India and reported similar results.
